The Group Stage of HellCup #9 has concluded, featuring both newcomers who emerged from the open qualifiers and established organizations that have graced the stages of major tournaments. Did the newcomers manage to overcome the strong competition and showcase their capabilities? Did the experienced teams manage to defend their titles?
Today, you’ll find out all about it.
In article you will find:
HellCup #9 is a tournament sponsored by Hellcase. The tournament not only has a guaranteed prize pool but also a special case with proceeds that will go towards the prize pool. Anyone can open the case, get great prizes, and increase the prize pool. Isn’t that cool?
The most important thing is that ordinary teams just trying their hand at eSports and just starting their journey to success can also participate in the tournament. Thanks to the open qualifiers, everyone can show themselves and what they are capable of.
The tournament’s open qualification format has thrown up a fascinating array of teams, each bringing their own innovative and unorthodox approaches to the game. Sixteen squads battled it out in the Group Stage, with only eight securing their place in the next stage.
Group A of the tournament saw a fierce battle between the four teams, with ARCRED, the team that qualified through the open qualifiers, emerging as the surprise victors. They first defeated Insilio 2:1 and then went on to beat Permitta Esports. The underdogs had little chance against such a strong opponent, but this only adds to the excitement as the invited teams await them in the Playoffs.
Insilio also advanced to the Playoffs, but they had a tougher road. They first crushed ENTERPRISE, then faced ARCRED and lost, but they managed to win their life-or-death match against Permitta Esports.
ARCRED and Insilio from Group A will move on to the next stage, while Permitta Esports and ENTERPRISE are eliminated from the tournament.
Group B saw an equally interesting situation unfold, with brazylijski luz, VP.Prodigy, Nexus Gaming, and LEON Esports all vying for a spot in the Playoffs. Nexus was the clear favorite among these teams, but things didn’t go quite as most had predicted. This was largely due to the fact that most people underestimated just how good brazylijski luz was at the game!
The Polish team, brazylijski luz, showed everyone who was boss in this group, easily defeating their opponents and advancing to the Playoffs. No one saw this coming.
VP.Prodigy also managed to make it to the Playoffs, defeating their opponents and putting on an entertaining show. Unfortunately, Nexus Gaming fought very hard for their place in the tournament, but they fell just short of defeating their opponent.
Group C was also not as expected by most. For example, you know ENCE, and you think that their team of young talents ENCE Academy will be able to show a good result in this tournament? You are wrong because much stronger teams are taking part in this tournament, and this is just the group stage.
As for the situation in Group C, there was no hesitation here – the Endpoint team defeated ENCE Academy 2:0 twice, both times with a 13:3 score. Then they rolled over another opponent, ALTERNATE aTTaX.
The second team that passed this test and defeated opponents to make it to the Playoffs is ALTERNATE aTTaX. The team with the long name won twice against Sampi, and thanks to them, they went further.
Group D was not as exciting as the previous ones, as MOUZ NXT could not participate due to a scheduling conflict with another tournament.
The main contenders in Group D were 1win, 500, and Soda Gaming. Based on the experience and level of play of the first two teams, 1win and 500, it was obvious that Soda Gaming was the weakest in this group. Unfortunately, this was the case. Although Soda Gaming tried to show a really good game, it was clear that their opponent was much stronger than them.
Thus, 1win and 500 easily advanced to the Playoffs. But will it be so easy for them there? No, for sure, as they were waiting for really strong and experienced opponents who were ready to show what they were capable of.
And of course, our selection of the hottest moments of the game.
